INDIANAPOLIS BLACK HERITAGE & LEGACY TRAIL

The Indianapolis Black Heritage and Legacy Trail is a journey through the city's rich Black history, highlighting key sites, landmarks, and stories that have shaped Indianapolis’ cultural landscape.

This “untrail” honors the legacy of Black leaders, activists, artists, and everyday citizens whose contributions have made a lasting impact.

It offers a space for reflection, education, and connection, fostering a deeper understanding of the city’s diverse heritage. By tracing the footsteps of those who paved the way, the trail invites all to explore the vital role of the Black community in shaping Indianapolis’ past, present, and future.

The trails first three stops are: Haughville, Martindale Brightwood, and Norwood

(Lentz Park, Douglass Park, and Pride Park (respectively)
